Martindale is a collaborative video work by Bug Davidson and the Two Left Feet dance company. Together, we delve into lost memories, buried histories, and lingering traces of domesticity in the rural Southwest. Once a thriving agricultural hub, the city of Martindale, Texas now stands in limbo—its structures teetering between decay and transformation as a new era presses in. We cast each building as muse, gathering images that reveal quiet beauty and a longing for connection with place. This work questions whether marginalized identities can leave a lasting imprint on history—or if, instead, they are fated to drift through such landscapes as ghosts.

Martindale has been presented in a variety of contexts. The work premiered as a three-channel installation at Fourth Wall Gallery in Boston, with photographic stills exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. A single-channel version was featured at both the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center in Austin, Texas, and GrayDUCK Gallery, also in Austin.
